If you are washing something delicate or fluffy, wool wash is the go.  It is really easy to make your own at home, with simple ingredients.  Here is how:

  •  2 cups of grated soap (I like to use Sunlight Soap)
  • 1/2 cup methylated spirits
  • 1 tablespoon eucalyptus oil

Add all the ingredients into a jar and shake well.  Add two tablespoons of the liquid to your washing machine on the gentle or wool cycle.  Add a cup of vinegar to the fabric softener section!

Store in the jar with the lid firmly sealed until all used up.

I use this same recipe, and sometimes add a few more drops of Eucalyptus oil to the rinse just for the smell (though it always seems to fade by the time they're dry). Love that fresh scent (and knowing it's *real* not some artificial fragrance!).

Sure, you can try tea tree oil or lavender!
