Ten Uses For Epsom SaltsEpsom salts have been long been used as a natural remedy for a number of ailments and also boast advantages in beauty, household and garden solutions. Try some of these remedies to see how Epsom salts can work for you in your own home.

Soften older towels

By soaking in a bucket of warm water and half a cup of Epsom salts overnight. The next day wring it out and tumble dry for that lovely fluffy new towel feel.

Clean Bathroom Tiles

Mix equal parts Epsom salts with dishwashing liquid, then dab it onto grimy tiles and start scrubbing. The mix works well to dissolve the grime.

Lessen the appearance of bruises

By soaking a washcloth in cold water mixed with Epsom salt use two tablespoons per cup then apply to the skin. Soaking in the bath for around 10-12 mins per day will help as well as relax and rejuvenate the body.

Remove Splinters

Dissolve one cup of Epsom salt in a tub of water and soak the affected area this will draw the foreign bodies to the surface.

Foot Care

Soak your feet in an Epsom salt bath to aid in the relief from the symptoms of Athlete’s foot and Gout. Soaking feet in warm water with a handful of Epsom salts three times a day will also treat toenail fungus.

Hair Care

Volumiser. Mix 50/50 Epsom salts and Conditioner and work the mixture through your hair. Leave for 20 minutes then rinse and dry.

Oily hair remedy, mix 50/50 Epsom salts and Shampoo then work into damp scalp. Leave for 2-3 minutes then rinse with cold water.

Fertiliser

Add to the soil around your plants once a month by mixing 1.5 dessert spoons of Epsom salt to 2ltrs of water. Indoor plants, veggies, roses and even your lawn will flourish with the treatment.

Spa Treatment

After a shower, massage Epsom salt over wet skin to exfoliate the body. It’s the same treatment many upscale spas use, without the hefty price!

Skin irritations

For mosquito bites, bee stings and mild sunburn, make a compress by soaking a cotton washcloth in a solution of cold water and Epsom salts (2 tablespoons per cup), then apply to the skin to relieve the sting.

Fake snow for windows

Mix Epsom salts with stale beer and apply it to your windows for the frosty Christmas look.
