Crap Products I have Bought Over the years, even though I've been very careful, I've bought some crap.  I think we are all guilty of buying crap at one time...

Over the years, even though I’ve been very careful, I’ve bought some crap.  I think we are all guilty of buying crap at one time or another.  Crap comes in many varied forms:

  • Products that have promised the earth and under-delivered ie lemons!
  • Product you think your going to use, then get them and don’t (ie fitness equipment)
  • Fads and Trends (ie YoYo’s)
  • Anything that comes in a showbag or you get for free
  • Any clothing we promise ourselves we’ll get into when we lose weight.

How to Avoid Buying Useless Crap

I find I buy useless crap when I’m at a point of weakness.  Boredom, stressed, when your not thinking rationally. I know I tend to buy crap if I have a breakout of pimples, the self esteem gets a bit low and I like to look for things to either cure it, or cheer me up a bit!  The sad thing is that the sales pitch that usually goes with the crap is very seductive….  it’s no wonder we all fall for it now and again. Crap is everywhere, daytime television is full of it – they target us housewifes because we are the ones with the buying power! You can’t walk into a shop without being seduced by every item.

What to do with crap?

Sell it on ebay! Or burn it!

List of Crap I have Bought:

  • Fad Steam Mop
  • Fat Tax Machine (ie rowing machine)
  • Fat Tax Machine II (ie elliptical trainer)
  • Fat Tax Machine III (ie one of those fitness balls that you can’t stash anywhere because they are too big)
  • Hypercolour T-shirt – both colours, both washed in hot water the first time, then they never worked again.
  • Ahh Bra – now I can show off my saggy boobs in bright pink spandex
  • Bold and the Beautiful Coffee Cups (I Love you Ridge on one side, I Love you Logan, on the other….)
  • A Cookie Cutter Piping Thing – the fact I bought it off ebay should have been a warning.  It’s now a ‘gun’ for my 5yo.

What sort of crap have you bought and wasted your precious money on???

I love my steam mop! It is the only thing that doesn't leave streaks on my horrible glossy tiles! (builders choice... never ever ever do glossy tiles and kids!) Junk! 1. Icecream machine that you have to pre-freeze. Qld climate just makes it impossible to use outside of the freezer! 2. Fit ball -I deflated mine! 3. Food-Dehydrator machine. Just too hard, too long to use.

I love my ahh bra!! Was fantastic while breastfeeding. I was really surpreised at how much I loved it. Don't think it would work so well with bigger chested ladies though. Not enough support.

hi Mel, can I ask what steam mop you got as I really want one to do floors and also as a hand held one. I was soooo close to buying that one advertised on tv and then found a review site where it was really slated thanks

We love our steam mop, we'll never go back to a mop 'n' bucket. We also own a Wii which we play occasionally. It's something of a mainstay in our entertainment unit though it rarely sees use. It'll probably see more use if we buy a Wii Fit, though storage is an issue - we have a subwoofer space under our TV that I might put a sliding door onto that'll fix that. For Bruce: I'm going out on a limb here and assuming that the problem is either standby power wastage or space constraints. For the former, I'd recommend buying a powerboard with switches to plug it into, that way you can simply switch it off to prevent it from burning a hole in your wallet when it's not in use. For the latter, there's little I can suggest that doesn't involve carpentry. That said, the Wii makes a delightful conversation piece at parties - little says "I'm an active person" better... well except for actual exercise equipment perhaps.

I bought a Wii, have hardly used it. I could die for my steam mop, but it took me 4 steam mops to find one that worked. My useless junk goes to burger presses.

I bought a Wii so I could get some exercise, but just thinking about getting it out of the draw and setting it up exhausts me.
