Always have something sweet on hand with this homemade cake mix recipe!

Wouldn’t it be nice to know exactly what ingredients are in the mix with no added preservatives or other nasty additives? The basic mix will end up being a lot cheaper, too. Just throw all the dry ingredients into a ziploc bag and it’ll store for 2 months!

To make them up just add the required wet ingredients and there you go. Here’s how to make your own cake using this homemade cake mix recipe!

Method

  1. Pre Heat oven to 180 degrees.

  2. Grease your cake tin or muffin pan and set aside.

  3. Combine all the dry ingredients together in a bowl and mix well.

  4. In a separate bowl, a large one, mix together all the wet ingredients.

  5. Pour dry ingredients to mix with wet ingredients and mix well.

  6. Gradually add hot water to the batter and mix. You cal also mix it on low speed until well combined. The batter should have a thin consistency.

  7. Bake for 30 mins for cake tin and 20 mins for muffin tin.  Start checking 5 minutes before the maximum baking time.

  8. Check using a toothpick. If it comes out with a few moist crumbs, your cake is ready to be removed from the oven.

  9. Allow to cook and frost it as you like.

Recipe Hints and Tips:

  • Sealed in a ziplock bag the dry mixture is good for up to two months - and even longer if you vacuum seal it or keep it in the freezer.
  • You're only limited by your imagination when it comes to making up mixes for later use!
