Slowcooker Chinese Ribs taste absolutely amazing! It takes a while to cook but the end product is definitely worth it!

Ingredients:

  •  2kg Beef or Pork Ribs
  • 1/2 cup Hoisin Sauce
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 5cm piece fresh ginger, grated
  • 2 teaspoons crushed garlic
  • 1/2 cup orange juice (or lemon or lime)
  • 1 red chili de-seeded and chopped coarsely (optional)

Place the defrosted ribs into the slowcooker on the bottom.  Mix the rest of the ingredients together in a bowl and pour the sauce over the top.  Cover and cook on low for 5 hours or high for 2.5 hours.

If the mixture is too wet – add a little cornflour dissolved in water.

If you wish to make this in the oven, follow the above directions but place mixture in a baking dish, cover in foil and bake for two hours.  Remove the foil for the last 20 minutes for the sauce to thicken and caramelise.

Serve on a bed of mixed Asian Greens and Jasmine Rice.
