Are you REALLY using a new disposable face mask everyday? Or are you re-using them?

Answered 4 years ago

They are expensive! Especially for a family, for me it equals $28pw to keep us all masked up daily. I Have washable masks ok their way, in the post, but not sure how effective these actually are.

My husband has to wear them to, from and at work (he works at an airport). They have theirs supplied and I can never bring myself to touch them. He leaves them on the bench and I have to get a pen and some gloves to slide it into the bin. Then I disinfect the whole bench.
I realise that its ridiculous when the man himself is traipsing germs all over the entryway/ensuite. But something about the mask itself freaks me out.

Basically as soon as you touch your disposable mask it's contaminated and should be replaced, and they only have a few hours use in them before they're not effective. so reusing a disposable one is probably not effective anymore anyway

I believe disposable ones are only effective for 4hrs anyway

Not needed on your own property. I don't put one on to quickly run the bins out that's a huge waste of a mask in my opinion. I just make sure no ones walking past when I put the bins on the footpath

So Victorians aren't even allowed to step foot out of the house without one?

That’s a joke! Surely bit of common sense is needed. Ridiculous to be fined putting out your rubbish

If you jog out with the bins then no need for a mask.

Google craft passion face mask sewing pattern. Seems to be popular. Just do two layers of lining so it's 3 layers total.

OP here, actually $28 pw minimum (if we each use just one mask a day) if we use multiple i shudder to think how much it’s costing me.

Buy reusable ones and wash them. Buy 2 each it'll be about 4-10$ per mask depending. No more weekly spending
