Lemon Butter

Made the lemon butter. Flavour is awesome but mine never got thick. Why? It seamed to coat the spoon and I pored it into jars while hot thinking it wood thicken while cooling but the top thickened but the rest was runny. So I had a fail.
What did I do wrong.

If your lemon curd hasn't thickened, it may not have been heated for long enough.
