Supporting small businesses during the pandemic

Answered 4 years ago

I think now more than ever, we all need to commit to supporting small businesses. Whether it be a local butcher, take away store or grocery store. If we all try to buy small business, hopefully we can keep a few of these afloat during these tough times and keep some of these employees going

What about families who have lost their jobs? Don’t think they can afford to go to a local butcher when the supermarket is cheaper. Struggling to eat but you want them to spend limited money on takeaway so another family doesn’t struggle. It’s a really nice thought to look after others but in really tough times like now, you have to look after yourself first.

I only mean if they can afford it of course, buy small business where possible. The whole situation just breaks my spirit right now.

Look, I think small businesses are going to suffer. I’ve put a holt in all my online shopping, takeaway coffee, anything that is not essential (food and water) is not being bought. My husband still has a job but I think everyone is thinking down the track, 2-3 months from now.

Unfortunately I won’t be supporting small business at this time. I did purchase from a bakery a splurge just before shut downs, but I do agree with you. After this is over, I will be supporting them again. This is going to sound really bad and please correct me, but I do wonder why so many don’t have reserves, or do they? Are they letting staff go, but will they be able to bring them back on board after? I feel with this virus that it will either go for a long time, or out of somewhere we will figure out a way to get it good. Like today they found ways to test large scale, very soon, who has had it and who hasn’t. This is so quickly considering it only started a few months ago.. those scientist are absolutely incredible!

I was looking into buying some things from a small local business for support but i was looking at some of their prices & i just thought we can't afford this, especially now. It's a nice idea but the reality is at least for us that's not an option right now. We could end up on the unemployment line next week, we need to think wholly about our own family and be really smart with our money.
