I haven’t downloaded the app because people keep telling me not to or the government will steal my information. What the hell are they on about? I don’t know whether to download it or not.

The only information it asks it already has. Your name (you don’t even have to give your real one) age bracket, mobile number

People are idiots. The government has your info anyway. What's a stupid COVID app going to tell them that they don't already know?

How do they know if you've potentially been infected unless they actively track your location?
Sorry but sometimes I like to go semi off grid. I leave my phone and cards at home and only carry cash. I'll pick a random place to go and go without telling anyone (it's an old habit from when I was with my abusive ez

*ex).
It's not completely off grid since this is suburbia. But it's not having an active tracker on me.
So, you tell me, how can the app know if I've been infected unless it tracks my phones movement? That's not a conspiracy theory, that's a reasonable concern?

The ap doesn’t let you know if you have been infected. It lets you know if you have been in close proximity to someone who has. And that person should have the ap too for it to let you know.

How do they KNOW if I've been in close proximity to an infected person? Is it like "there are 17 infections within a 20km radius of your house" type situatuon? Or are they more "you went to Woolworths today, you may have encountered an infected person"?

^ because your smartphone when Bluetooth is on recognises other phones with their Bluetooth on . So the ap will alert you when you with your phone is close to that of another that also has the ap and is infected.

Right, okay so it's a Bluetooth thing. Cool. Still not going to download it though. But good to know.

Also "Omg engage your brain" - why not give an informative answer ya muppet. Is your brain "engaged"? Or are you just a sock with a hand up ya? "The second one!"

Downloading the app It’s the first step to more control. Next we will have to have a vaccine. Then a microchip.

If you have a tax file number, a Facebook account, and smartphone the government already knows everything about you .

I think it's hilarious. "Download our app, and you can resume SOME of your regular movements".
Oh really mate? You're preaching this to a country built on the backs of nomadic people and convicts. We may stay passive for a while, but if they keep pushing their shit, people will rebel. So far, (and this is just my opinion) it's worked so well (stay home when possible) because we're coming in to the colder months. Who the fuck would really want to go outside in 4°C weather anyway?
But if they hold this out till spring, people are going to flout it.
We want to be free. And by that time, we'll have slowed the infection rate down enough that we SHOULD be free.
Download their app? Welp, the government is just gonna have to give me a phone to do that. Mines full. Sorry bloke 😂
