Sultanas pooped as grapes. Is this normal?

Answered 5 years ago

My son has been eating sultanas and I was fine with it because it seems like healthy fruit to snack on. But he has pooped them out in his nappy as whole grapes! He seems fine but my question is 1. Is this normal or is this because he has a problem with digesting (and does it get better) and 2. Are these grapes absorbing nutrients that he needs and is it dangerous for him to eat too many. Thank you guys 🙏

They come out rehydrated because they are not chewed well enough. They are not depleating nutrition bit also not adding anything.

My 2 year old ate some of those ball things that you soak in water over night then leave them in pot plants to water them. I didn't know she'd got to them until I was changing her nappy and they were in there, fully blown out lol. Turns out her 7 year old brother accidently knocked them over while he was getting something off the bench and tried to get them off her then was too scared to tell me or his dad what had happened so just crossed his fingers and hoped she'd be OK lol. This was almost 12 months ago now, I'm sure your baby will be fine if mine survived that lol. Like others have said, extra water to make sure he doesn't get dehydrated, but other than that they'll be fine. And yes, I had a chat with her brother about how if she ate something she wasn't supposed to he needed to tell someone straight away in the future

My kid pooped what looked like whole grapes after eating sultanas. Normal. Pretty sure they just absorb whatever moisture is in the stomach. Make sure you give them water to drink with any solids eaten.

Thank you. Just gave me a shock.

I think that happens sometimes - though it made me laugh to read it! I agree with limiting sultanas as an occasional food and maybe making sure for your son to have some water after eating them to help rinse away the sugar.

Thanks 😊 was a shock to see. Think I will limit them and make sure I give lots of water. He loves them 😂

Yep, normal to poop as grapes. I'd say good for a little snack, but fresh fruit is better. Also dried fruit can stick to teeth and cause issues due to being high in sugar, so just something to be aware of.

I thought you were saying the sultana pooped grapes are OK to eat for a little snack. Had to read this three times.. still not sure.

What do I do if I’ve already eaten the pooped grapes? Is it ok to finish the rest or should I stop?
