What time do you and the fam have dinner?

Answered 5 years ago

We have ours as early as 5pm but other times at 6pm. I've been told it's early but I've always done that.

It surprises me to see how many families do separate dinners for kids and adults. Is there a particular reason your family does it this way?

Because kids are starving at 5. And go to bed at 6:45/7 so they can’t eat later.
And I’m not at all hungry and if I eat at 5 I snack until I go to bed.
7:30/8 dinner suits me as I sleep around 9.
Eating at 5 I’d need another meal or go to bed hungry then have a restless sleep.
occasionally we have family dinners but not often.

Anywhere from 5-6:30. Just really depends on the day and whether I’ve worked/had uni/had a meeting etc. Some days I don’t pick the kids up from daycare until 5:30 so we eat around 6:30. Other days I pick them up at 3 and we eat at 5. It varies. Most of the time the kids eat dinner and my partner and I eat when the kids go to sleep.

I love my routines on weekdays. 6-6.30 is dinner, 6.30-7.30 is baths, 7.30-8.30 is in bed settle down and 8.30 is lights out. Weekends everything goes out the window and anywhere between 5 and 9 can be dinner time.

When my kids were younger we always had dinner at 5pm but as the kids have gotten older (my youngest is 12 years old) we have dinner between 6 and 7pm.

We aim for between 5-5:30pm. Bedtime for our 4yo is around 6.30pm, so that gives us time for a bath and little play after dinner. We also have a 1yo. Sometimes it just doesn't happen and dinner isn't until 6pm.

I grew up having dinner at 5pm as that way we could have dinner together even if dad went to night shift. I'd be starving when I went to a friend's and they didn't eat until 7.30pm lol.

It varies greatly depending on the day and if kids have napped or not. Anywhere from 5-7pm but I usually aim to eat 5:30-6.
