Wholesome homes

Answered 4 years ago

What makes a wholesome home? We're watching Christmas movies today and it's made me want to do more wholesome activities with my kids. I have four. Obviously I'd like to stay at home with them (even before COVID, taking them all out solo is tricky). My husband is at work and we need to blow off a little steam. I don't know. I'm probably being silly.

😂 I've got four kids and you seem to doubt that I have a sex life? Do you know how babies are made?

Side note: there's nothing wrong with surrogacy 👍

Definitely nothing wrong with surrogacy. In this case it's an absolute blessing if no kids have come from the womb of a bitch

Depends what your interests are and age of your kids. Board games, puzzles, reading, knitting/crochet, craft, beading/jewellery making, baking, learn an instrument together. Or more outdoorsy and active like family bike rides, hiking, regular beach trips (on weekends when hubby’s home to help out). For me a wholesome family/home isn’t so much about the activities but more about how each family member speaks to and treats other family members, being respectful, kind, generous etc.

I get it. We are making s’mores over our fire pit tonight because they get mentioned in American shows and my daughter wanted to try them (google tells me digestive biscuits are a good substitute for graham crackers here).
My daughter wanted to learn to knit so we’ve been doing that too. We’ve been baking bread and making pasta from scratch. I’ve taught the children some easy recipes.
Reading together is always nice.
Turning off the tv is good too - but we have loved LEGO masters and we even got the LEGO out. But we’ve also enjoyed some board games and swapped jigsaw puzzles with the neighbours.
Writing letters to older friends and relatives has been nice - even ordered some photos to be printed online.
It’s nice to be together at the moment, even if it’s for an awful reason.

I don’t quite understand this question and I’d actually really like to know more! Would making traditions help? Like a board game night or a particular receipe each week on a day?

Yes. This type of stuff. Like, when you think of a home filled with love and warmth and a close knit family, what do you picture?
