In laws comment on housekeeping....

Answered 3 years ago

I’m beginning to dislike when any in laws come to my house. I work 3 days per week, have two small girls and a husband who does not contribute whatsoever. My house is reasonable clean (clean bathroom/ toilet/ kitchen) there’s just a fair bit of clutter around. My sister is law commented on the same items laying around 3 times last night. I’m just a bit over it?? Is this normal, does it happen to others and what approach did you take? I’m tired of feeling uncomfortable in my own home when they visit.

'I know. I'm so overwhelmed. The only way I'm going to get this place clean is if someone offers to help clean it, haha.' *uncomfortable stare*. Shuts them up instantly.

If you feel brave, tell them you're struggling & doing the best you can & a bit of clutter isn't high on your priority list.

Or, take the high road & ignore it. Don't react or engage. If they judge so easily, they'll judge whether to your face or not.
