I haven't seen it make much difference for canned products but for some products for example flours and baking products it does make a difference.

We get Heinz baked beans because we can get a no added salt version. I'm generally happy to get home brand stuff, but sometimes they are just awful compared to name brands.

Yes it depends on the product. If it's just tinned corn or tomatoes or something there's not much difference. But there's a massive difference in home brand cereal vs expensive brands, for example.

I've swapped to different brands on some canned food because the water/sauce seemed to be way more than the actual product. As if they added more water, salt, sugar etc to add weight instead of the product you want. Eg Tinned fruit in juice.

Other items I've happily gone for the cheapest product when the quality and contents have seemed similar.

Home brand for me mostly. There are a couple of things that I don’t like in the home brand. Coles evaporative milk isnt as good as carnation.

No. I'm cheap. I want money in my pocket not coles or Woolworths banks accounts. If you are talking about canned tomatoes it makes no difference if you're adding it to things like spag bowl or a casserole anyway.
