We did the city to rural move we have 20acres we have the vege garden chickens 2cows at the moment start off with just a few chickens and built from there we have a auction in town every 2weeks where you can buy farm animals and food cheap for them better to buy in bulk we have gone mostly self efficient I make nearly everything from scratch as well as trading veges and eggs with local farmers for hay for the cows chicken will love vege scraps and are easy once use to caring for them do you have any children we have 2 that love the country life fresh air and heaps of room to play hope you get your dream property

Thanks for the info. We couldn't wait & got 2 chickens already. We love our girls, they're such good layers. Excited to have more though. We have a 3 year old & he loves them too, he'll be a great little farm hand😊.

Do you want to farm something in particular or just have land for random animals? If its just animals then you could try and be as self sufficient as possible. Grow vegies, grass and grains for animal feed, let paddocks grow. Collect rain water. You would still need to spend money on pellets and hay and whatever else is needed but you could also sell manure, eggs, fresh produce. It would take up all of your time and probably not return alot. If you found a fruit or something to farm it would be more profitable than just animals.
