WA relax rules, but still no playground?

Answered 4 years ago

The WA gov. Says they cant be sure playground equipment will get cleaned, so they are staying shut.

There is no evidence of community transmission in WA.

Wouldnt you think wind, sun and rain would clean the play equipment?

Is there an actual law against using playgrounds in WA?

Could i get fined if i take my kids to a playground?

Where are you in WA? If you are in Perth, I would say don’t risk going to the park. If you are in remote WA, go for it. I live in the Pilbara and I’ve been taking my kids to the park down the road for weeks now. Never had a problem, and we are usually the only ones there. (Other families also use the park too, I can see it from my backyard)

Why so angry?

That comment didn’t seem angry to me. Maybe frustration like how I feel because some people think they’re above everyone else. The government announced the no playground rule for everybody’s safety. Plenty of other ways to keep your kids entertained in a safe environment.

No it is angry and does not read her post. I get that corona virus is so stressful for us all but trying to convert someone with rudeness or bullying is just stupid. I'm a different responder

I dont think they are trying to convert anyone? Its a fair point. Why do people always think they are special? Everyone is missing playgrounds.

Someone else here....there is no anger in that comment. It’s just a comment. A fair one too. Few other posters have pretty much said the same thing. I think you are reading into it too much.

I get what you are saying, but I think it is closed because of the ‘parents’, who will be there. The schools are drop off and pick up only, with no parents really interacting when kids are involved.. I know I would keep my distance but I’m not sure everyone else would..in my view at the end of last term, some people in offices were really doing it, others were not so they will just trial this stuff and see what happens, after a while hopefully playgrounds reopen!!

Following up, the other reason cited was that people can’t be contract traced at playgrounds, that’s makes more sense

Premier also said it’s because they can’t keep on top of cleaning playgrounds.

If there isn’t a law and you and others like to decide to go to playground before the government says it’s ok to do so then they will make it a law, and restrictions will be back and for longer. Why risk it?

It's so frustrating to hear people trying to find loop holes....it just means that those of us doing the right thing will be stuck doing the right thing for longer☹

There is no community transmission in Wa. We are locked up and no one has the virus in the community, makes no sense

Maybe there has been none because of the strict rules in place? This virus is a nasty beast. For some, the symptoms are obvious, the effects life threatening. For
others, no symptoms yet they are still highly contagious. It would be dangerous to lift all the restrictions at once because there haven’t (as yet) been any community transmissions. Look at the USA. What we are doing makes perfect sense.

Probably try the city council though? I imagine it would actually be the rangers who do the fines?

But the government has said not to and have given good reasons why. Everyone has to do the right thing. Why do you think you and your kids are so special? Is it just too hard to find something else to do with your kids? Just follow the rules or you’ll set us all back for an even longer period of restrictions.
