Child doesn't believe in Elf on the Shelf anymore

Answered 2 years ago

My son is 9 now and has told me he doesn't believe in the elf on the shelf because he can see you can buy them in the shops. What's the best way to approach this? Do I get rid of the elf... what do I say to him? What have other parents done? He still believes in Santa though I think it'll be his last year as he's starting to think its the parents. Thanks

Is there a younger sibling you are worried about getting told? If not then I'd just admit he's right and ask him what he'd like to do with the elf. Let him lead you, and definitely don't try convincing him that he's wrong and the elf is real (although it doesn't sound like you are planning that anyway).
