How do you deal with rude people interrupting conversation?

My cousin and I were talking about her new partner and my SIL interrupted and said he’s a cute photo of John look how cute he is
My SIL kept talking about her son for few min and my cousin and I excused ourself

I just ignore the comment and continue talking to the person I was talking to. I know a lot of people who interrupt. So rude. My kids don’t even do that.

If my children do it, I'll put up my hand as if to say stop and I'll continue the current conversation. They know it means to wait. I dont know any adults who do that but i might be inclined to do the hand thing with them too 😂
