My brother has been seeing a lady for 10mths and she has 5 kids aged 3,5,7,9,12 and my brother wants me to buy the kids a present. I only met the kids 3 times and they are rude to me and my brother.

Would you buy a present ?
If yes how much would you spend ?

Funny cause I am having the same drama this year. My partners son will be at our family Christmas get together which is in November. We all live interstate. Everyone buys for the kids the price limit is $50. No one will buy for him so I’ll be buying the kid 4 $50 things which is what my kids will receive, similar to what my kids will get . I’ll wrap them and give them to my nieces and nephews to give to him. My siblings have been told this. You can’t leave kids out, you also can’t expect siblings to fork out an extra $50 plus token presents are nice but I would rather him not feel like he is getting token gifts when it will be like Christmas morning for all the other kids

Get them something for the family - a boardgame, dvds etc.

I’d only buy something if they’re going to be at a family Christmas gathering. If you’re not going to see them Christmas Day then I wouldn’t bother. Something small, just a token gift would be ok. Depending on if they have similar interests etc, try and get a combined gift, maybe 2. 1 for older kids and one for younger kids eg board game etc. I wouldn’t spend a lot of money.

I would just buy them something small each - say $10 per child. A small toy for the little ones or a book? A pretty notebook or similar for the older ones? You can get lots of things at somewhere like kmart for $10.
