Is it flirting or innocent, what do you think?

Answered 5 years ago

A friend, I've known him for most of my life. He asked me out in high school, but I declined and we remained good friends. Since then, social media has blown up. I mean, it was already beginning then, but now with Instagram, Twitter and Facebook, it's gotten massive. He follows me on all platforms and whenever I post anything, he's one of the first to like it. No matter what it is. He also compliments me when I post a photo with me in it. He is a lovely guy, and I'd like to explore the idea of more than friends. But I don't know if it's him flirting or just me over thinking it. What do you think?

OP UPDATE:
He spent the night. We stayed up talking til 2am and fell asleep snuggled up on the lounge together. He wants to give us a go. I'm stoked. He's coming back round on Wednesday night. We didn't bone (thanks to the lady who commented that) 😂 but I have high hopes for Wednesday.

I think it’s his way of saying he wants to be with you by following your ‘every move’
Go for it I’d say if he made the first move and you rejected him he’s never going to try again. He’s obviously waiting for you.

I think he is being a good supportive friend. In saying that though all you have to do is ask him. He did at school and it didn't harm your relationship so asking him now isn't going to do damage. He might still be interested.
Go for it.

There is only one way to find out. Ask him if he would like to meet up for a coffee. If you start getting vibes tell him how you feel. He will either be interested or he won’t but you will never truly know unless you bite the bullet and ask him.

Some people like everything their friends’ post. Do you have mutual friends? Does he like all their stuff too? I honestly wouldn’t read too much into likes on social media.

I think it’s very easy to overanalyse indirect communication on social media. If you’re interested in him, you’re both single, maybe send him a message and ask if he would like a proper catch up over coffee, and see where it goes from there,

Thank you. We have a few mutual friends (he's only got around 20 people he follows anyway) but he doesn't like all of their things, nor does he compliment them. It's just me.
I'm meeting him for coffee and a catch up next week so I'll see what happens.
