Ha ha this is hilarious. I cannot believe you are serious. Life happens, should the “person 1” who landed and spread it around Italy also be sentenced to jail and all those who spread it stupidly also be punished ie all the cruise ship companies who continued to advertise? Or the politicians who continue to downplay it- should they be punished? Or the US politicians who dumped millions in stock when they got the insider information? At times of great stress, it is much more powerful to rise and face this with eachother, it can really bring much progress and growth or it can lead to toilet paper panic. Let’s talk about changes when we get through this, not waste our energy saying us and them. This started with someone in a marketplace, it could have been in Africa. It has transpired so fast and we have made so much progress considering the rapid speed of dispersal.. as a world we are really working together, in our different ways, and I think it is something we can really benefit from, not to mention to ensure this never repeats itself. When Germany was punished with repayments and sanctions after WW1...did you not see what happened? History is an important subject and I feel you could do more to learn about it.

I am the op - It was a question, for you to say this is hilarious is ridiculous, there is no need to be so condescending. I just cannot believe that this has caused so much damage to our world, it should never have happened

It did not start in a marketplace lol that is pure chinese propaganda bs it was in a research facility in Wuhan, they knew it was spread through human to human contact in November and did everything they could to control it being reported to the world going so far as to blame the US

Not the OP of this response but at this point, does it matter who’s to blame? How does finger pointing in this moment help? This is not a new thing. Every 100 years something like this sweeps across the globe and now it is happening in our lifetime.

Look in all honesty I'm sorry it came across as rude, now that I see you are serious. The thing is,, I don't think people understand the word sanction. Reading that word in the context of a horrible event which was not deliberate is an overkill. Now it it happened again because they didn't make adjustments sure, but I'm pretty sure they will be making changes just as Australia would if it had started here. I feel like you are implying this happens every week by your reaction and i interpreted it as racist which was my mistake. In the past many human errors have lead to giant consequences, felt internationally so it felt like an overactive tesponse. Though I do get what you are saying.

Thank you, nor did i want this to come across as racist - that had not even crossed my mind. What i’m trying to say is - should they have some kind of penalty/ or similar etc which would ensure this never happens again, and or if it does that proper measures are in place to ensure it’s dealt with differently? It’s easy to say, oh yeah i’m sure it won’t happen again, but is there something that would enforce this and should it be done?

The virus jumped from animal to human. It was not 'created' by China. Now it is transmitting from human to human.

I think China should be sanctioned by the international courts for their delay in reporting the virus and the quick spread which didn't enable anyone to implement measures sooner to protect their own citizens

I agree with this. If they hadn't covered it up it might have been contained.

Heads rolled in China because it was badly managed, I’m not saying they didn’t downplay it but heads rolled as people in the line of command tried to protect their own reputations. Same in Iran, in different ways, same in Italy likely, Australia too.. I don’t disagree with what you are saying, but it is not so black and white.. don’t believe the news highlights..or do so knowing that you do not know the full story even though that is their main advertising line

Don't believe news headlines... I wouldn't have made a statement like that without knowledge. My husband is an ICU doctor and currently working with the virus every day. I myself am a lawyer with experience in international law so I feel it should be dealt with in the international courts
