I dont believe in giving teachers gifts. I dont think it’s ethical. But i do believe that teachers are fabulous and deserve all our respect and gratitude.

Why do you not think it’s ethical?

I think people forget there are huge numbers in classes, a lot are little shits let’s face it, with families to match. I don’t know how teachers deal with some of the mums I see at the playground. Makes my skin crawl and unfortunately my daughters class is rife with people like these so yes I most definitely have a bottle of white and red in a little gift bag with a huge box of chocolates ready for Monday morning.

As in every job, there are amazing and not so amazing employees. Stop the teacher bashing, you are setting up your children to fail if you can’t take one ounce of ownership. It’s not your fault nor the teachers, it’s just a tough situation for all. From one mother, to another 🙂

Actually I feel like the ones who need praise, appreciation and presents are the family day care educators who are pretty much working for nothing!!! And you can't social distance with a 1 year old like you can a school age child.
Teachers pay has not changed and my child's school has been terrible and unhelpful to say the least during this time.
Very dissaponted indeed 🤬

No because the education that has been provided has been slack and poor quality. Why would I thank people who are letting kids fall behind and who cant be bothered correcting kids work? Literally cant be bothered marking the work juat say oh well done. Next

My daughter worked really hard on her work packages. She completed the lot a week before it was due, working on it during the school holidays. It was not to be submitted online but handed back on her return. The teachers didn’t even collect them. Boy was she pissed off!

No. I discovered DS's teacher has been doing one on one zoom lessons with some kids & others (like DS) don't even get feedback. No explanation of complicated activities he's never done before. Apparently I have to be a parent who doesn't care enough to try to get support. Not impressed at all.

If you need help, ask. If you don’t, let the teacher use their time to help those that need it. You don’t know what any other child’s home looks like....

Yes there is probably more to the story no? It’s so easy to get upset, but have you spoken to the teacher?

Yes. Every day I email as per the requirement with information and copies of DS's work. I say what were struggling with, ask for what we need help with. I've given feedback (professionally) on how we need more information on certain tasks. No response.

The only contact I've had has been 'why aren't you doing this, this & this?' (weren't told we needed to/it's too much) . 'you're doing too much/too little for him'. Today it was a guilt email because certain exercises haven't been done by most of the class.
So yes, I've asked, I've begged, I've told her I can't cope with DS's meltdowns and need help. I get told tough, he'd gotta do it or he'll fail.

I'll add that today I also discovered that the other subjects like art, music etc. won't even be looked at. So a total waste of time.

Dont worry about art science pe and the language the school teaches just focus on reading, writing, spelling and maths. If you have emails keep copies and make a formal complaint about the teacher. She cant fail a child wjo is struggling and whos parents have asked her for help as she is the teacher and she is not and has not done her job. See the principal email them and the dept of education. A teacher needs to help all students not a select few.

All the teachers that I know have done nothing but complain too. I actually unfriended one from Facebook because she kept referring to herself as a solider going into battle (for context...we had 2 cases in our town, that were from people returning from overseas and were never in the community).

My teacher friends complained about ‘germy little kids’ who would infect them and kill their families.

Yes. The germy kids will infect me and I won’t know about it so I will take it home and infect my kids and my parents and we could all be killed. Seriously, that’s what they were saying.

We sent a jar of nice coffee (I stand, but she can use it at school) and a gift pack of dried fruit/nuts/chocolate etc. Our school did an amazing job of making work accessible when at home, I know how much work goes into that so I wanted to show appreciation

I was thinking the same thing today. Gosh I appreciate their job a lot more than before. I feel like buying the teacher a years supply of wine or some thing lol my kids teacher has been fantastic my little one will message her constantly and she’s never failed to write back fairly quickly and help her out. Has even called me personally a few times to see how we are all doing. Great job!
