Why can’t people just stay home?

Answered 4 years ago

We just had our first positive case of COVID in our town in months. Somebody from Sydney decided to travel over the mountains our way. Grrr...if you are living in a hotspot stay in your own city. Spreading it into the regional areas could be a recipe for disaster. I get that it sucks not being able to go anywhere but it’s only going to get worse if we can’t figure out how to stay away from each other.

Look, your town has minimal cases atm so stop worrying. There is no way to control this situation. No qay to conteol the virus sadly. We had it under control but people stuffed up. Now we must just accept that this is our life 4 walls and staying home to keep us safe.

You are being ridiculous. You can’t assume that the people from Sydney have it!

I would not keep him home based on what you have said. Your son’s education is important.

Not all, but as a Victorian I agree. It is incredibly frustrating to be in lock down for months, doing the right thing. And people who test positive can't even fucking stay home. I am so beyond frustrated with how selfish some people are being.

Ummm, pretty sure OP said the person traveled from Sydney (not Victoria).

I meant immigrants in Victoria.

These kind of immigrants don't deserve mateship.

Agree SOME have done the wrong thing. But many of us have stayed housebound since it came to light due to our low immune systems. It is incredibly frustrating to continuously face rising numbers and deaths due to incompetence in work force, workers going to work ill and those doing the wrong thing. Incredibly frustrating to have to be at home for 6 months now only shopping for food. I just hope they increase fines to $10,000 per breach.

Just to add to those 6 months you cant get financial aid or counselling as it is all taken up already so you go without.

You sound very highly strung. We are in a pandemic, cases will crop up. What part of this do you not get?

I get it thanks. My point is we have been advised to not travel, distance from each other, masks, etc, and people just aren’t doing it. So yeah cases are cropping up but they wouldn’t if we would all do the right thing. Sorry if being upset over this comes across as high strung. I just would prefer that myself or my family and friends didn’t end up sick or worse due to someone else’s negligence.

Until it is eliminated in ALL states there will be frequent flare ups. Seriously, what do you expect?

I expect for everyone to take it seriously and do what they are supposed to. The flare ups won’t be eliminated until that happens.

You’re getting your knickers in a knot over one case??? Melbourne has over 700 cases in ONE DAY. Seriously, get some perspective. People all over the country are stressed and suffering - there’s no need for you to whinge about one case.

You missed the point. Her one case can turn into many, maybe even reaching the 700 Melbourne had. It all starts with one person.

I do have perspective. I know Melbourne is drowning and it sucks and I cannot imagine the stress they are under. But I live in a regional area that cannot handle an influx of cases. One person can quickly turn into many and we could then be the next Melbourne.

I’m Victorian and have been staying at home and only going out to exercise and buy food with a mask on. We don’t live in the north but it’s getting everywhere.
