Day spas - never been, what am i in for?

I've been gifted a half day session at a day spa with a friend this weekend. I dont really like being touched.... i love a massage etc but only from hubby, i dont relax when strangers touch me - like getting my hair washed at the hairdresser, it feels nice but i also feel uncomfortable and i just kind of want it to be over. The other issue is I'll have my period and it can be heavy at times. How do i manage that? Am i allowed to wear my own underwear or do they give me something else? Im worried about 'leakage'. I know its lots of peoples dream day but its just making me stress and feel anxious.

You don't have to wear the disposable undies, just say you would prefer to wear your own.
You can call and find out what you are booked in for, and if you don't feel comfortable with has been chosen you can ask to change it.
Just a suggestion, but would you feel comfortable with a facial? It will be relaxing and it's only your face and arms touched. You can wear your own underwear, and maybe put some shorts on too.
If you are anxious, let us know what the treatment's are and we can give you an idea of how invasive it is.

Maybe see if you can swap the massage, maybe get your nails done?

With certain packages they give you the disposable underwear, but I’m pretty sure that is for the treatments, where they rub cream/mud/exfoliating stuff onto you, And then you have to shower to wash it all off. If it’s more a massage etc and then just moisturiser you would probably be expected to leave your own underwear on.

Get some maternity pads and use a cup/tampon too.

Yeah, was going to wear super tampon and pad, but am worried they will want me to wear those disposable undies and i want to wear my own. A package has been purchased for me so i just have to have whats included.....

Why don’t you call, and just mention this certain package, and say how would one go about it with a period? Over the phone it won’t be embarrassing to ask, just mention it’s booked already and you want to know the details of how it will be done with your period. They should be able to give you alternative ideas or suggest something else if it’s too much to undress fully.

I couldn’t think of anything worst either! I got gifted a full day at a spa in Fiji on my honeymoon and I didn’t even use it. I just couldn’t imagine how dirty and ubrelaxing it would be lying, sitting on beds, chairs, that others have used 😬

They aren’t my thing either. I went to one in Japan and I really didn’t like it at all. I know most people think they are awesome though.

Yep, so many reasons im not looking forward to this at all! Having my period is really adding to me not wanting to go! But, i guess i just have to deal with it and make the most of it.....

They won't make you do anything you are not comfortable with. So if you have your period, wear your pads, I'd use two to cover the whole undies just in case the massage pushes some out. You speak up if you are uncomfortable and they will accommodate you. Don't be stressed, enjoy this new experience
