Stop washing there hair so much.
I know this sounds weird but lice love clean scalps/hair.

Tea tree oil. I have a spray bottle with diluted tea tree oil and I spray my daughters hair every morning before school and brush it through. 3 years on so far not one bout of headlice

Is there anything that would also mask the smell of the tea tree?

Masking the smell would be counter active to using it. Nits hate the smell

I agree with tea tree oil. I used it everyday in my daughters hair. When she was in year 6 she complained she didn’t want it anymore.. she got nits 4 times in 5 weeks! We went back to the tea tree oil! Just a couple of drops in a spray bottle with water. It’s the smell that nits hate. Spray hats too
