My SIL (husbands sister) is currently going through the final stage of her divorce. She's overseas right now but when she comes home, and COVID has lifted, I'll be throwing her one hell of a divorce shower.
Her (ex) husband ruined their engagement party, and she wasn't allowed a bridal shower or bachelorette. He was a controlling piece of shit who abused her. She can start her single life on the right foot and we'll toast to a long life free of arseholes like him. All the tacky penis memorabilia will be burnt in a big bonfire with his pictures. Fuck that guy. She deserves so much more than the life he wanted for her. And it will be my pleasure to watch her flourish.

It's really nice seeing posts like this (not about the asshole but how you love your SIL) 💜

Yeah for sure. So Im hoping to take her out the day of and get our hair and nails done, get new dresses, etc. Then a few of her friends, her sisters, and I will take her out for dinner and drinks. And then back to the in laws farm for a big bonfire with all her family too and "healing circle" (her suggestion, it's where she sits in the middle and vents all the insecurities this a-hole gave her, and we shout them down). Basically, the goal of it is to remind her how great she is, how much we all love her, and that her future is no longer about her ex. The same way that a bachelorette party is "one last night of freedom" - this is going to be her last night of being trapped by him and his shit. Bachelorettes mark the end of singledom, and the beginning of marriage. This will mark the end of a shitty marriage, and the beginning of a brighter future.
Again, fuck that guy. My SIL is a gem.

Legit conversation with my dad
Me: that's it we're done. He's been cheating on me and he hit me when I kicked him out, I'm currently in hospital strapped to 50 million monitors and they are contemplating sending me to Sydney
My dad: so like for real? No going back?
Me: none what so ever
My dad: FUCK YEAH! Let's throw a party!
Me: dad, I'm pregnant remember.
Dad: oh. Well I'll drink for both of us and you focus on keeping you and that baby alive. I'll see you tomorrow when I get home.

I think my dad was more excited than I was haha. And yes, we did party after bub was born (5 weeks later and thankfully only 1 week before her due date)

I love my dad. He was on the other side of the country when it all happened for work and arranged a flight home the next day

If I did this I'd just be pretending to be happy. I'd probably cry myself to sleep that night.
