It's not like it was before. You cannot send your children to daycare simply because you want some "Me" time. Shame on those who

It should never have been like that during corona. Particularly when people who actually needed childcare for WORK couldnt get a place.

If you had a place previously how did you not get on during the last lockdown?

^ many people returning to work from maternity leave - which is generally when people start using childcare after all - couldnt get a place

That’s probably because so many people jumped on the wagon because child care was free. Most didn’t accept new enrolments for that reason

Yes, thats my point. Those returning to work actually needed the care but heaps of SAHP put their kids in just for 'me' time - friend worksin childcare confirmed this.

Yes both have to be working. If someone's at home regardless of if they're working from home you can't use childcare

It's a global pandemic if your boss doesn't understand that the world's changed right now in Melbourne they've got rocks in their head

IF both parents are working from home and BOTH are approved workers then you can use child care. I should know we are doing exactly this

That’s not the case. If someone works from home and is unable to fulfill their work duties whilst child is home they will be granted an exception.

To the idiot who said there is no insurance issue - um, yes there is. We are NOT LEGALLY ALLOWED to supervise children while we work because it is against work's insurance. While you are at home working that is your workplace and your work is legally responsible for you.

If you hurt yourself at home doing work related activities yeah. But not if you fall in the kitchen making a sandwich.

If you hurt yourself working from home doing work activities yes its covered under my work's workers insurance because I am at work. My kids arent covered thats the point, work doesnt want to get sued.

I cant understand why its so hard to understand that many works dont let you supervise kids while you work. Its really common amoung people I know.

Either parent can be essential. Anyone required to be at work under the new restrictions or requiring a permit to work. Retail staff, food manufacturing and retail, police, nurse, pharmacy staff. Construction workers also on permit.

BOTH parents NEED to be essential workers.

If one parent IS and the other ISNT.... No childcare for you.

Your wrong first replied. If one parent works at home and the other out of home only the person at home needs to be either essential or able to show that the child will prevent them from completing their work duties.

I have had to organise all this for my partners business. We are still working (construction) and his wife is a teacher. She can’t teach and do her zoom meetings with baby at home and I provided the worker permit to the childcare centre to show hubby still on site.

They have been granted access to childcare.
Please put out the correct information or just stfu

You need a permit. Contact your childcare centre to see if they can give you more information

Basically if you are going to work you can send them (in the days you are working)
