Trouble staying asleep

Answered 5 years ago

I need help. I have been having trouble sleeping. Sometimes i can fall asleep by im up 4 hours later. Otherwise i cant fall asleep all night.
I have been taking two panadeine fortes at times and they help, but am mindful they are not good for me.
Please give me any other over the counter options that have worked for you.
Im desperate. I work full time. I have three boys (7,5,3) all sleep from 7pm until 6;45pm.

The one and only thing that helps me get some sleep is Swisse brand Sleep. I will admit that I do occasionally have a night of absolutely no sleep but that's usually because I'm anxious or upset about something

I have chronic insomnia too. I find it difficult to go to sleep & then stay asleep. I do have tried over the counter sleeping tablets, they work but you wake up groggy. I am going to try the magnesium & melatonin suggestions that others have made. I reckon I'll try the lavender too. I might even try the 7kg weighted blanket mentioned in another post. I need something to work, I've had chronic insomnia for 4.5 years.

When I can’t get to sleep I imagine myself sinking into a big warm soft bed with warm blankets and a comfy pillow. I visualise myself drifting off to sleep. I also pull blankets up over my mouth because I feel more comfy, warm and sleepy with the blankets that far up.

I also have trouble staying asleep. Have you tried keeping your phone out of the room? I sleep so much better when the phones in the kitchen. Like, I still wake up to feed the baby, but I go back to sleep again, instead of laying there for ages and eventually checking instagram.
And as daft as this sounds, try putting some potted lavender in your room. It doesn't need to be by the bed. My husband put some in our room and holy balls. It's so calming and relaxing. I'll be snuggled down after putting the baby back to bed, and a whiff of lavender wafts over. Mmmmm. So much nicer than having to smell my husbands stinky farts/breath. Lol.
