Tafe Fee payment plans

Answered 4 years ago

Has anyone done a tafe course on a payment plan? What were your payments like? Weekly? Were you charged interest on top of it? How long did you have to finish paying it off (I'm guessing probably until the course is finished but how long is that)? I don't qualify for the VET fee help, nor do I have a spare $3K sitting around. I've sent an email off to the Tafe but won't hear back until at least the morning. I'd appreciate any insight from someone who's experienced this. It's a course that runs for one semester if that matters. And it'll most likely be online due to COVID.

6 years ago i did a course, paid the deposit and then each pay i would go and pay a chunk more off the course.
Just had to be paid by a certain date i think. The course was $1800 a semester i think??
Everyone else opted for vet loans but that made me uncomfortable that they were really pushing it on everyone over payment plans.

No interest, you can pay a down payment when you sign up of whatever you can afford then they divide the balance over your study period, must be paid before you finish, (but if you cant then you just keep paying it off till its paid, but you cant apply for your certificate till your balance is paid- they wont kick you out) you pay fortnightly with a minimum payment of $50 pf. If you have a health care card you can get reduced fees, why dont you qualify for VET? Just need to be an Australian citizen with a tax file number - is the course not covered by VET? If you have a healthcare card its 50% off.

If its one semester your doing divide $3000 by 12 (thats 12 fortnights) and thats what your repayment amount will be, if you dont pay a down payment up front, obviously if you do pay a down payment deduct that amount of the $3000 then divide the remainder by 12 fortnights.

Im in WA so im familiar with the WA Tafe system, but i guess it would be similar nationally.
