Private vs public .
Answered 11 months ago
Private or public high school? We are in QLD.
Does anyone have experience in both ? What are the advantages of going private? We have couple good public schools close by and seems like a no brainer. We are in financial position to go private with all our kids, seems like a huge amount of money. I went to public school , my husband did semi private. I get pressured by friends and family to go private. Any strong pros and cons of both?
Have an answer?
So say there is 2 people, same education, same everything, for the same job that pays shitloads, BUT one of the employees is the son or daughter of the ceos old friend from school, who do you think gets hired?
I’ll give you a hint, half the time there isn’t even an interveiw.
E.g. My DH went to public school A, my cousin went to public school B, married man from public school C. School C man started a successful business. Offered my DH, qualified but inexperienced, a very well paid job in his field because he knew and trusted him. They never advertise.
But you missed my point.
In a public school you’ll have all different socio economic backgrounds.
I myself went to a public, and come from a fairly wealthy self employed family. Many of my friends were the same but there were also pretty poor kids too.
My husband, none of his friends were poor. Not one. Their parents spent 80k a year just on school between 3 kids.
There wasn’t one “poor” kid in his school. So his “networking” range was 100% extreemly wealthy families. Not maybe 1 or 4 , 100% of the kids he went to school with have parents who make shitloads of money.
So the odds go up you see.
You end up knowing far more people in high paying situations.
That being said I’m talking about a very “elite” private.
I don’t see it happening as much in the more moderate schools, however it can have other effects such as curriculum an strictness, attention and access to more things. A hood private school you will get what you pay for but you might also end up with the same result as a public.
I went to public school and ended up a successful business owner d self made. Which was more to do with my home environment than schooling.
But then again environment is a big factor in what I’m talking about. The environment in schools can be a big factor
A crappy private school is just a crappy school. A good public is still a good chool.
