Is circumcision rare?

Answered 1 year ago

I have been sleeping around lately and I have noticed that I have been with more uncircumcised than circumcised. I have known that it’s been uncommon to be circumcised buts it’s not heard of now. To be honest I am more comfortable with someone who is uncircumcised as I am more familiar with a foreskin

My boys are 14 and 16, both have high and tight circumcisions. They say it’s about 40% cut in the locker room

Did you have to request that style/result or is that just what they ended up with? (Which I think is best - no point doing it by halves!)
Where are you based? If in Australia then it is more proof that the actual rate is much higher than reported.

My 16 and 18 year old boys are both intact and have reported the complete opposite to me. My 18 yo is going well with football and with this he is travelling and uses the locker room at his games. He has mentioned to his father that majority of the boys are also intact

Yes it seems a lot more common than the statistics show. We had our sons done too.

Are they circumcised high and tight as well?

If parents decide to circumcised, they need to research the different methods and results.
For those of you who don't know, "high and tight", "high" means that the scar is well down the shaft away from the head and "tight" means that more foreskin was removed, resulting in the remaining skin being wrinkle-free with no bunching up when flaccid and taut when erect.
Many people believe that a "high" circumcision is preferable because more of the sensitive inner skin is retained between the scar and the head, albeit now exposed rather than under a fold of foreskin.
After doing the research when considering whether we would circumcise, it seems that "high and tight" gives a classic circumcised look and is the preferable outcome.
We didn't end up having a son, and probably wouldn't have circumcised anyway.

I don't think it's as rare as official statistics show. I'm in my thirties and have been with mostly circumcised, and we had our sons done.

Husband is circumcised and our sons are natural and not been circumcised as no reason to do it. If it's not broken don't fix it. Not been with an uncircumcised one now for over 20yrs. My husband says that it is more popular in his late 40's age group but guys in 20's at his gym are not circumcised.

ANSWER

Yes it is, most to all guys I have been with are uncut

Depends on the generation really. I would't call it "rare" as the majority of blokes over 40 are circumcised, and quite a few people still have their sons done. I prefer it circumcised.

about half and half here too, though when I lived in the US for a few years, almost all were cut. I definitely prefer cut.

Yep husband is uncircumcised or shall I say normal. Our sons are the same. No medical reasons to do it.

I thought it was rare/uncommon but reading all of this apparently not, 3 sons and 3 grandchildren are all uncircumcised

I don't think it's as rare as some people say, it's just not done publicly anymore, so people pay to have it done at clinics. That means it's not in the official statistics.

Circumcision is becoming more popular again, I think. I’ve actually never slept with an uncircumcised man before. I don’t really have a preference, but it just seems a lot cleaner.

It sure sounds that way. Once you add up all the babies along with those who have it done when they're older or as adults, it seemed there are a lot of circumcised males out there!

I'm surprised at the number of mums my age (mid 30s) who have had their sons done

Anecdotally (particularly from the comments here) it seems that circumcision might be more widespread than the 10-20 per cent of newborns figures that I saw quoted when we were looking into it.
Lots of mums here say they've had their boys done or a lot of boys in their circle of friends are done.

It may be more or less common depending on where you are. I'm in Brissy, and among my friends with boys about half are done and half not. I had my two boys circumcised.
