Yes, it's a little more expensive and harder to find things, but if everyone just switched one product a year it will help over all

Yeah it totally comes back to the shop local, buy local, swap local.
I mean imagine if everyone just didn't buy anything not needed, ie new clothes for 1 month and watch them all freak out

A large part of the problem is that many people are ignorant of what's made here.
To take one example, on a FB group I'm on a heap of people said they love their Blundstone boots that are made in Tasmania.
The fact is that all their manufacturing was sent offshore years ago, but people think they're still made here and keep buying them because of this false belief.

Pili Pala Pieces
At Pili Pala we design and create pieces that are unique and joyful, and make you go 'ooooo!' in the best possible way. Using custom techniques to combine sustainably farmed Tasmanian timbers with Helen's artwork, our collection includes homewares, jewellery and gifts. Our entire collection is designed by Helen in beautiful Hobart, where we hand make the pieces as well. Helen meticulously designs each and every product in our collection. She spends months refining the colours, patterns and intricacies of each product before moving through to a prototype phase, refining again and then finally launching. Each piece is inspired by the melding of beautiful muted colour palletes and an abstract take on elements found in nature.

Bondi Booti is an Australian handmade baby and toddler clothing brand, all handmade by a mother daughter duo. Beginning in their home garage (that they call their studio, sounds more exciting) and selling at local markets, they've have taken to online to keep Bondi Booti alive through the bushfires and covid-19. Using soft organic cotton, linen and sustainable bamboo in beautiful gender neutral earthy tones. Bondi Booti pieces aren't mass produced and their quality will last through to hand-me-downs. They want your littlies to adventure in our outfits, run through the ocean and fields of grass, and look really cute while they do it.

Off Leash pet food
Off Leash was created out of a need to get nutritious treats for our pup, Rusty. We struggled to find anything that wasn’t highly processed. As a trusted meat supplier to national brands, we use premium lean meat fit for humans in our dog treats, combined with fresh veggies sourced from the Darling Downs region, local to us in Queensland, Australia. Our carefully air-dried treats means easier snacking on the go and a delicious crunch your pup will love. Just like ours.

We own and operate an Australian online adult products store, however the availability of Australian manufacturers for our products is almost zero, as we cannot compete with manufacturers in Asia. We investigated manufacturing our own brand of condom here in Australia, as we found a manufacturer who could, however the final price was almost four times the price of what we could buy it and have it shipped to us in a shipping container from China.

This is a nice idea but for people who earn not much money & struggle from week to week, paying extra for something because it's Australia when they can get 2 somethings for the price of that 1 thing isn't realistic. I'll leave to all those people that clearly have more disposable income than I do.

I’m in this boat but am really annoyed by all the cheap plastic rubbish from China - so I’ve been buying second hand as much as possible. It may still be manufactured overseas a lot of the time, but the dollars I spend are staying here, often for a charity or a local selling things on marketplace. I’ve also been making an effort to buy veg as local as I can and go to the local butcher instead of just buying it all in the super market.
