Sort of. Took leave without pay (govt job), moved for my husband’s work, had surgery, and got casual work on a part time basis where my husband was working. Gave up my position in the end and it was such a relief. It was a toxic work environment which I won’t go into, but the staff turnover at the time was huge. Took me months to really feel myself again.
The only reason it was financially possible was my husband was moving for a pay rise and we went regional for the contract, but rented our existing house out. Rent was much cheaper there, so it almost made up the difference. We cut back a few things and made it work. I was made permanent at the part time job and stayed there two more years before we came home. So glad we did, wouldn’t have survived if I’d stayed with that boss.

Wow, I am in a toxic work environment now and that is why I am thinking about taking time off. I only work 29 hours but the management is bad and I can't stop thinking about work even when I am not in the office. Not sure what I want to do with my career but feel I need a break to just rest and rethink what I want as it is hard to figure out when stressed.

I think I need to do this but feel guilty that the financial responsibility would fall all on my husband who is also struggling with his job.
