No sweets after 3pm, otherwise it is too hard to get my daughter to sleep at 6/7pm. Also I think it sets your kids up for a bad life long habit of after-dinner snacking. A couple times per week we let her make smoothies with a generous amount of ice-cream (mainly for dairy benefit) for morning tea, plus occasional treats such as vanilla cake when we are out during the day.

For us, dessert is a part of dinner (if they want it), so we don't consider it a snack. They don't get anything else after that before bed though.

My kids have dessert most nights. Nothing flash or fancy. Usually its a zooper dooper or some choccy bikkies. Its not a "mus do" but my kids know they can have it if they want it

Same for my lot - always a little something whether it be cookies or icy pole - basically whatever we've got

I make an apple pie or a pudding now and then and serve it with custard or ice cream or maybe will buy a box of ice creams but that's pretty rare. I'm not anti dessert and my kids can have sugar, it's just not some thing we do often.
My eldest is 13 and goes to bed later now, since winter started she has been making herself a hot chocolate or green tea before bed some nights.

Friday night is treat night. They have ice cream or some chocolate. If they’re hungry any other day they can have fruit or a couple of milk arrowroot biscuits. We have tea at 630 then bed at 830 so they don’t often want something to eat for dessert.

ANSWER

Probably once a month I will buy ice cream which doesn't last long, and a few cheese cakes.

Yeah, but not every night. After Easter they were having a little egg after dinner 😝 sometimes there is some slice or yoghurt or they have a piece of fruit. Sometimes I make custard or a pudding. Very rarely have ice cream as I just don't buy it.
