Look changing your name people will find you. But if that's the route you choose personally I would make it something very common

Have you already written a statement?
Personally I would get a sudden hit to the head and memory loss before I put myself in the situation of needing to change my name… you can always be found if they have the means!

When I was younger we fled a DV situation and my mum changed her name. She kept her original middle name. Kept the first initial but changed name and changed her last to her mother’s married name (he didn’t know that name).
I don’t know how she came to those choices, she doesn’t like to talk about it even now 20 years later. But we were never found by him. We also moved 2 states away so that helped.

Interesting conversation. I'd choose something common if I didn't want to be found like Jane Brown or Sarah Smith.
