I did. But I think it’s more for commercialism and not really that it goes off. If it were really going to turn mouldy, it would do it far quicker than 6-12 months??

It’s not that it turns mouldy like food but after you have used it a number of times it becomes a breeding ground for bacteria. Particularly eye makeup.

I don’t have a strong sense of smell but I know my mascara needs changing when it gets an interesting smell.. not bad/ good just a smell. Usually that is about once every 6 weeks or so .. maybe 12 weeks depending on how often I use it

It could get bacterial just from one use! I would say the use by dates are more to do with quality than hygiene.

I don't think it matters, it's not like you're going to eat it

Blah blah just a scam to get you to throw it out & buy more - making them more $$'s

Yes. The mascara and shadow are the main concerns as that can cause a bacterial infection.
I have no idea how anyone can get make up to last that long, mine only lasts me a couple of mouths 😂

Some old people wear make up to weddings and funerals

I hardly ever wear makeup, so it would last years if I let it, but no, I routinely throw it out and get new stuff when I need it 😋

Yes I knew. There are cases of women going blind from the bacterial on old eye liner.

Also women who don’t wash their makeup off. I saw this woman on the news who never washed her mascara off, hadn’t for more than 10 years (soooo gross) and almost lost her sight. Suffered years of pain until the doctors worked out it was because she didn’t remove her mascara.

No matter how tired you are, always wash your makeup off before going to bed!

I saw that too! It was gross! But I just couldn't believe she wore a full face of make up every day but never took it off!! The chunks they cut out were disgusting!

^ agreed. She said she was too busy, but it takes 5 minutes to wash your face. Always make time for it, always!

Not taking off your mascara and eye make up also dries out your eyelashes and makes them fall out or break.

It takes me about 10 minutes to take off my make up and exfoliate but I can’t sleep without doing that.
