I don’t have a secret fund, but I do have separate money and accounts. We have a shared account for expenses and living, but financial independence is important to both of us and we should be able to spend our money however we choose, after all the necessary expenses are covered.

Everyone should have a "Fu*k You" Fund, for anything that's gets a bit fu*ked. I've got 20K in mine, secret from husband. Started it 15 years into relationship. Perfect rainy day a/c for emergencies, if you need to leave your job or relationship. Before the judging starts, I began saving after husband had an affair. I put my career on hold to have & care for our children, run the home & help his/our business. This is my safety net.

I have part of my income sent to a seperate bank account my partner doesn’t know about. It’s not really a get out fund as much as I am just far better with money that he is. If he sees it he will spend it. It’s more a rainy day fund than anything else.
