Would a job like Young Living Essential Oils be recognised as work for Paid Parental Leave with Centrelink?

Answered 3 years ago

I am trying to find a job I can do from home with a baby - and trying to think of something that would then entitle me to paid parental leave when we have our next bub. My husband is a mature aged apprentice therefore making minimum wage and my job I had before having bub (Teacher Aide) did not renew my contract upon having bub so I am unable to go back to that. Trying to find something I can do from home with a baby on the hip!

I'm not sure they'd consider it job but if you get money from it, then it's an income and must be declared

Anything you earn money from should be declared and is classed as an income

Yes but that doesn’t mean it meets the criteria to be eligible for paid parental leave

It does. Call Centrelink. They want to know about ALL incoming money and where it comes from.

Yes of course they want to know about all incoming money! However It DOES NOT mean that income qualifies OP for paid parental leave!

I would think so. I recommend you look up the PPL application form and check what eligibility criteria there is, e.g. how many hours you need to have worked etc and make sure it's feasible.

Ask Centrelink
That kind of job is usually a side hussle and definitely possible with a new born
