Of course it is, within reason.
We both get carried away sometimes. We wouldn't ever bring hurt to each other. So if he's not in bed with me at 3am I worry about the state of his shoes or his mates lawn. He's the same. Not all the time but enough to let us relive our youth! We send a text here or there, "I'm ok, love you, i have spew on feet" is fairly sufficient.
It's not the act that's the problem for many people. It's the respect and fear.
Let go of that and you'll enjoy each other more!
