$0 in payments. But CCS covers $170 a week in childcare fees for 2 days a week for our 4 year old.

We don’t receive any Centrelink right now, but during nsw construction shut down (only 2 weeks) my husband got $600 a week. I also got parental leave when I had my second child as I’d worked a full time contract for a year which finished a few months before he was born. It really helped with the loss of my income and meant I could more easily stay home with the baby for a bit longer.

I don’t think there are many people on Centrelink long term who want to be. I’m glad it’s there to support people. By far and away the biggest receivers of Centrelink support are aged pensioners, not so-called dole bludgers.

What a simpleton response. If you earned enough to actually pay a solid amount of income tax then you wouldn't even be bothered - or eligible - for said payments. "Get something back" Truckload of tax WE pay"
Ha. wanker.

Exactly! Yes we earn good money. We paid $107k in tax this financial year. We get NOTHING from the government. Forced to pay medicare levy and medicare surcharge and if we don't also pay for private health we get hit even harder! Hubby gets charged extra tax on his super because his income is over the threshold. So we well and truely pay our way and get nothing at tax time! You should not rely on centrlink and other people working their arses off and making huge sacrifices so you can get a nice lump sum at tax time and free everything!

You’re speaking from a very resentful position it sounds. I think you should get support too and that sucks. I also hate it how I have to cancel work when I have a sick child and I lose big time when I do. These sort of sacrifices are real and one day when you are older the younger gen will be very responsible for us, be careful in making sure that they are supported

Wee don't rely on it! But it's very nice to pop it into savings 😁 that really hurts you doesnt it?? Sucker.

But you don't need government assistance when you earn that much money. We earn around $130k and don't get any assistance, I don't care because I don't need it. I also don't care that some of the tax I pay goes towards helping those on lower incomes or those that aren't working. Yes even the dead beats. If the dead beats weren't getting any money they'd be doing far worse things to get by which would be causing all kinds of social issues.
And just so you know, your taxes cover A LOT of other stuff. Its doesn't just go to centrelink

Same, we literally just miss out on assistance and it honestly feels like such a slap in the face. I'm just about to start back at work and we are so used to living tough on one income now that my whole wage will be surplus money. My wage isn't huge at only $900 a week but I am incredibly excited to live a little again!!! Hahah

^no it's not. FTB part B cut off is $100k (you either get it or you don't). Part A varies depending how many kids you have, but gets reduced the more you earn.

Damn right I'm going to claim it since I'm allowed to. My husband works and pays tax, I worked for 10 years before becoming a SAHM and paid tax. Once the kids are in school I'll be returning to work and paying tax.

When your youngest turn 8 you have to go on new start. You have to go to meetings every 2 weeks to a job search provider and apply for 20 jobs a month to stay compliant.

That's for a fortnight and I get a whopping $16 a fortnight child support. I honestly wish I could have seen how much of a dead beat he was before I had kids with him. I can start my youngest in preschool next year and I honestly can't wait to be able to get a job and hopefully have a little bit more income

I receive FTB A & B at about $397 per fortnight. I'm a SAHM of 4, and my husband works casual for a company with very little idea of how to manage their time (for example, one week they might be flat out busy, the next they start laying people off because there's no work - because they whipped them to finish the job early the week before). So, our income is a little uncertain.
