Girls trip

Answered 5 years ago

My friends and I are wanting to go on a holiday next year. For a week. Somewhere not expensive and not Australia. All I've got is Bali and thailand. Any other suggestions on where to go that's not expensive? Just after a mum's holiday, relaxing by the pool,/beach

What i didn't understand is why does everyone always want to do what everyone elses is doing? It's always the same - Bali & Thailand. There is a whole wide world out there people do something different. Cook Islands, Malaysia, Somoa - the world is your oyster stop trying to keep up with Jones - those people are boring anyway.

It’s more to do wit him the cost. You mentioned Malaysia..... pretty popular with Australians. We went to Singapore a few years ago. Absolutely loved it but with 2 adults and 2 kids it was a very expensive holiday. We could have gone to Bali 3 times over for what we spent in Singapore.

I get what you're saying but it's not exactly my oyster. We aren't going for long so don't want to be on a plane for too long, we don't want to spend alot of money either.

Because Bali and Thailand are inexpensive and close to home. Duh.

Theres plenty of places that are inexpensive & close to home but the majority of people lack the brains & are too lazy to research them.

^ how about giving some examples instead of calling people lazy?

Also, I’ve done lots of travelling and off the beaten track plenty of times but I am a frequent visitor to Bali because I love it, and I have lots of wonderful friends there. Ever thought that is why people go back, because they actually like it?

Singapore is not at all cheap. And hardly the kind of place you go to sit around by the pool. Depending what coast you live on, Fiji isn’t cheap either. Some of your other suggestions are becoming popular with Aussies, like Vietnam. . But for a quick girls trip, probably not really good suggestions for a girls’ trip

Not all Negative. Vietnam was a good suggestion. Most of your other ones missed the brief.

None of those places are cheap and barely any of them are close to Australia. You need a globe and a reality check.

Have you considered a cruise maybe.

I'd love a cruise but I get very sea sick so I'm worried I'll spend the whole time throwing up. They do look amazing though :)

Yeah I suffer from motion sickness as well but I am told by family who have on crusies who also get seasick that its not bad as the big boats have stabalisers to minimise motion.

I live in Southland New Zealand, no not expensive for everyday things. Sure if you want to do tours or activities (like jet boating, bungy jumping etc) you'll have to cough up. Queenstown is expensive. I live about 2.5 hours drive from there, to be honest I hate the place!! If you're wanting a chill out holiday don't go to the main centres. Maybe fly into Christchurch then get a rental and head to Hanmer Springs (thermal hot pool town) it's even great in winter

We were looking at going to north island and hubby from there. The actual holiday didn't look too expensive, but the flights from Perth are obviously more because we have to get to East Coast, but gosh it looks beautiful in pictures

Do not go to PNG! I lived there for 8 years. Beautiful yes. VERY dangerous, not set up for tourists. I would love to go back to see my old houses, school, where i grew up, go visit some of the beautiful islands and mountains etc but its just not safe. Have considered doing the kokoda but thats a well organised thing. If you want a relaxing, cocktails by the pool, girls trip PNG is about as opposite as you can get from what you want.

Actually my Aunty just came back from a cruise with her friends around PNG and she loved it. It was fairly cheap, well organised etc but otherwise no. My husband went there for work and needed armed guards to escort them everywhere.

Go on a cruise. Get the drinks package and sprend your days doing as much or as little as you like with a cocktail in your hand, live entertainment, and buffet meals to choose from. Most relaxing and enjoyable trip I have taken with my gal pals.

Bali is beautiful place, I think the people that slam it as bogan have actually never been or of they have then bogans attract other bogans so maybe it's the company you're keeping on holiday.

Agree! If you think Bali is only for bogans you actually have never been there and get all your Bali info from Today Tonight, or if you think it’s just for bogans after going then you’re not visiting Bali right.
