How do I even start to try and pick up the pieces? My heart is broken.

You start the process of moving on and healing. Do something that makes you happy and you feel good. Do something you couldn’t do while in a relationship, when mine ended it was going out with friends without having to constantly check in with someone. Let your feelings out, if you’re happy be happy, if you’re sad be sad, if you’re angry be angry. You can have all these emotions whenever and you don’t need to feel guilty or bad for expressing them.

You think:
Who is moving out (assuming you live together)
When
Where are the children living (assuming you have some)
What time frame will be in place for each parent to have the kids (parenting plan)
Will you try to remain on good terms or do you expect there to be some animosity on the other partners side
If you're married are you going to divorce or just seperate (why/why not - do you think you'll come back to the relationship later)
Can you both maintain an amicable divorce
Who gets what property
Do you have/need a solicitor
Do both of you need a solicitor or can one do the job
How are you going to broach this subject with the children

You also just breathe. Breathe in and out, and know that the world will continue to turn regardless of your plight. Do you want to talk to a counsellor?

Same here. I plan on asking my hubby to go to marriage counseling. I’ve asked him in the past and he said no but this time I’m done.
