Yes, they ask me to donate to a charity for their birthday. They’re not even close enough friends that I would buy a birthday present for anyway. I just ignore them.

This is a new thing that FB are offering. It popped up on my page since my birthday is coming up. I ignored it since I don't want to ask friends to donate to charity.

Charities are becoming very aggressive these days. I used to get accosted in the street at major intersections with their collectors almost demanding money. We nicknamed them "Chuggers" - Charity Muggers.

Next thing they are refusing cash and wanting a permanent deduction from my credit card signed. And they were foreign backpackers, obviously paid a commission on how much they collect.

Charity has become an aggressive industry that pays their top executives enormous money. And then there is all their administration fees. Only a very small % gets to the people they are supposedly collecting for.
It is an industry that now closely resembles scamming and extortion.

Your friends are idiots who have been fooled into thinking they should push the charity demands onto their friends. I find their aggressiveness that you have described appalling.
And threatening to tell your husband, to force you, is extortion.
I could tell you the choice words that I would use to tell them where to go, but my comment would be removed.
The only charity I have given to is The Smith Family and Fred Hollows Foundation, because I was confident of the benefits delivered. But even then you have to sign up to give them an income stream.
Charity giving is a purely personal decision. And PRIVATE.
If you want to be polite just tell them you already have your charity giving organised, in your budgeting.
You need to just be tough.

I would suggest you delete and stop using facebook. Don't be a slave.
You CAN.
Of course you have a choice!

Just say no. It is a complete sentence. You don’t need to justify your reasons or make excuses.

Not sure what you can say to your husband though. He may not know how it works.

Well then if they contact him then tell him to say no. Like I said it’s a complete sentence. No need to justify your reasons to anybody else.
