Probably 3 times a week - i tend to anaemia so I try to eat every 3rd day or so at least. I try to alternate with chicken, fish, and vegetarian meals (lentil, nuts or tofu for protein)

We are currently eating 1.25kg a week between my husband, teenage daughter and me (breastfeeding). In addition, we eat a dozen eggs, a small packet of bacon and a packet of tofu a week, and often a couple of pieces of fish for my husband (when we have the tofu)
My husband wants to eat meat all the time! I was a vegetarian until I got very sick when pregnant with this baby and became anaemic. When he is weaned, I will eat vegetarian again.
I buy a kilo of mince and a kilo of minute steak per fortnight from the butcher. I stretch them out into 3 meals for the mince (with a tin of lentils in a pie or savoury mince with a tin of lentils and a tin of corn, with kidney beans in Mexican or in a Bolognese sauce) and 2 meals for the minute steak (cut fine for stir fry with heaps of veg and then as steak and potatoes). I usually take a couple of small meat strips and dice them up finely in a big veg soup (adds a little flavour but mostly keeps my husband happy when he sees the meat lol). In addition, I make a pumpkin and chickpea curry and a quiche once a fortnight.
The brown lentils in a tin for about 80c at Coles are great in mince - they hardly get noticed, add nutrition and stretch the meat. Plus super cheap!

(Sorry - counted the bacon as red meat in the 1.25kg number)

God I wish I could cook like this - it would give me such a break! My husband expects 5 star meals otherwise the whole lot gets chucked out. For example one night it’s lamb cutlets with peppered mushroom sauce and Parmesan mashed potato with buttered green peas.

Or it’s caesar salad with buttered corn and eye fillet steak marinated in spices before cooking (cause he hates plain food)

I feel so overwhelmed thinking what will I cook most days because he won’t eat simple things like spaghetti ect.

Oh gosh. I wouldn't have married my husband if he was like that. Jez high standards much? He'd be a nightmare to live with.

We don’t at all anymore besides sausage sizzle at Bunnings or sport carnivals.
It’s taken 5-6 years but we now only eat fish we’ve caught at home.
If someone cooks red meat for us I won’t reject it but at home we are caught fish only. And I feel like absolute shite when I eat red meat now. Chops use to be my favourite dinner, but over time I think my stomach acids have changed. I still like the taste but feel horrible afterwords.
Actually my husband buys salmon because we don’t catch that. Sometimes our friends get it and give it to us but not usually so we have to buy it.

I can’t tell if our new intolerance means we shouldn’t have been eating as much as we were or if our stomach acid has just changed, iv always been in tune with my body (knowing to the hour my ovulation and period and what food I need ect) and once I cut it out I don’t find I ever “need” it anymore.
Fish will make me feel good if I’m feeling low now without the sluggish feeling and blood red meat gives me.

Usually 5 times a week. We are on a farm and kill our own. Use cold roasts and corned meat for sandwiches for lunch as well. Have chicken and fish 2 nights.
