sorry to all the people who lost a loved one during COvid time and couldnt see them...or be with them ..sorry to those who passed away with no-one they loved dearly by their side....ITS TOO HEARTBREAKING....i cant imagine the emotional pain..
this was wrong in every way-there were ways to get around it-but the government couldnt be bothered cos they werent in this situation...iF SCoMo had a 15 year old son in hospital dying, would he have left him alone to die like a homeless dog, like the kids poor family was forced to ?? i bet not...but its easy to set all these bullshit rules when it doesn't hurt YOU !! we are talking HUMANS DYING HERE !!! OF COURSE THIS SHOULD NEVER HAVE BEEN ALLOWED.... and while we were all told to not be anywhere near our loved ones, and to not even hold their hand with a goddamn space suit on....i zoomed past plenty hairdressing salons with people getting their hairs done and having their fricken heads massaged !! F&^%&* NOT OK !!!!! and UNFORGIVABLE!!!

100% ^^ Mark talbotts mum lives a 4hr car ride away. He should be allowed to get in his car, drive to her and talk to her through a closed window. He doesn't have to stop and talk or touch anyone. To add insult to injury, he has tested negative. This is pathetic. I agree with your scomo comment. He's break all the rules for his loved ones

2 week incubation period this is where problems arise. People test negative and believe they are negative when in fact the disease is not yet at a stage where it can be detected.

How is talking to her through a closed window going to help stop possible contact with others during an eight hour return trip. The mother is dying so he may as well jump on the bed with her and give her a hug, won’t matter if she contracts covid. It’s the rest of the population he is putting at risk. He has put god knows how many people at risk just by getting on a plane.

Yeah he might not have it/ but he might too!!!

And yes testing negative now means bugger all. How the f do you do an 8 hour car trip and not touch anyone or anything???

Does he expect to be put in a space suit and transported in a disposable car and have doors automatically open for him when he arrives.

If he was to drive. Rental car??? Putting petrol in said rental car??? Does he expect the hotel he is at to pack him a picnic to take for the road trip so he doesn’t need to stop for food. I guess if he needs a number two along the way he will squat on the road so he is not touching public toilet doors , basins and all that blah

Yes I have sympathy for him but ffs the man needs a reality check

if I was in his shoes, my shoes would be in the USA , probably sitting by my front door while I FaceTimed my family!
It’s plain selfish to put so many other people at risk for your own gain.

Extremely entitled to think he could get on a plane thinking he would be exempt of the rules!!! He knew the rules when he booked his ticket and boarded the plane! Spend the 14 days in a hotel as instructed or get back on a plane to the US!

His entitled attitude could possibly create heartache for so many. He claims he has travelled from an area with low infection rates. He’s still travelled, with other people in the plane and the US itself has high infection rates. Even if he came by private jet he has still been around god knows who in the previous days to travel/customs etc etc etc

His mother is not a covid victim. Just think Covid victims die with NO family by their side. Often without anyone holding their hand. No doubt marks mother will have someone by her side.

No. This isn't the sort of decision that is to be made by emotion. I wish there were circumstances in which loved ones can see their dying relatives in person, but it's just too dangerous. Besides, allowing one to break quarantine will create a precedent.

It's so sad. He's in quarantine as he's just come in from overseas and his mum, who is 4 hours away, will be gone by the time his quarantine is over 💔

It's very sad, but there are so many people in the same heartbreaking situations. Why give this person an exemption? It's not fair on other people who have been in or are in the same situation. I'm sure all of them would do anything to be allowed to see their loved one before they passed. Imagine if this person actually had Covid and spread it because he was given an exemption and other people died? Rules are rules. It absolutely sucks what is happening, but the general population need to be protected.

I have no idea who this person is, however, I believe it should be the same rules for everyone. Almost anyone who has a dying parent would obviously want an exemption to see them, but i dont think being famous or a politician etc should give entitle them to something that the average person cant have/do. There are a lot of people struggling right now with not being able to see loved ones or seeing them through a window.
