Ungrateful step nephew

Answered 4 years ago

I gave him shorts and card with $50 for his 13th birthday on Sunday and I saw the card in the bin and I opened it and said what’s going on ?
He said oh thought I got shorts and card
I said thanks for opening it ( not )
He took no time grabbing the money from my hand

Would you have taken the money from him ?

NO it’s not what they do. There’s no excuse for such rude attitude unless you’re being raised by bogans. My 16 yr old got a crappy ‘keep out’ door hanger from his very wealthy grandma for Christmas, he smiled and said thank you and placed it on the door whilst she was there. His younger brother got a T-shirt and was still grateful even though not any other person in the family gives presents as they are far away. It’s how you raise them.

I really don’t get how some of you just pass this off as normal typical teenage behaviour. I don’t know any teenager that behaves like that. The kids in my family and their circle of friends don’t. This lady’s nephew is rude and ungrateful. I would’ve taken the money back and told him “well you obviously didn’t want it”.

I wouldn't have taken the money from him if he'd seen it. But I would have taken the card out of the bin and home without saying anything, and later on said "did you buy anything nice with the money that was in your Xmas card".

Eh, he's a kid. I wouldn't get too wound up about it. They're typically selfish, thoughtless, have an inability to show gratitude, etc... Kid's usually don't give a crap about cards, anyway.
