Child with an itchy bottom
Answered 3 years ago
Hi mum’s. Need your expert advice please. My little boy has a very itchy bottom. Have wormed him, used an anti fungal cream to no avail. There is no change in his diet and no signs of skin inflammation. Any ideas what it could be? His dads girlfriend is a doctor and has no answers but not a mum so hoping your experience might enlighten me please? Thanks

His Dad’s girlfriend is a Doctor but not a mum.... wow!!! Let’s just discount her entire medical career, study and degree because she isn’t a mum. Tinge of jealousy much

So far both the other replies have said all I wanted to except: put some talcum powder on his bum crack! It's summer time, he's sweating, get him either some talc or some cornflour and powder the tushie. It may help.

Did you remember to worm everyone?
Has he been constipated recently? Sometimes tears can get a little itchy. And like above sometimes sweat and skin can cause itching. You could also look at washing powder, it’s a sensitive area and if ingredients have changed or you’ve changed it could cause some irritation.

Sometimes a sweaty bum gets grubby and itchy for a little kid. Is he having regular showers?
Make sure you give worming tablets to everyone he shares homes with, as well as changing all bed sheets etc and towels. Bum worms can lay eggs outside the anus.
Perhaps he's might have a crusty bum from not wiping properly.
Your local child health nurse may also have some helpful advice.
