Suggestions for light alcoholic drink.

Answered 5 years ago

I’m hosting a party for my daughters 21st. I bought a couple of those huge glass drink dispensers but I don’t know what to put in them. I’d like a light alcoholic drink but Im not a regular drinker so I have no idea what drink to make. Usually I see orange or pink drinks in them. What are they?

Why don't you get non-alcoholic wine and Shiraz. I got this Edenvale non alcoholic pinot Noir wine. Love it during summer time. I think they have Shiraz, bubble too ,

As if they'll drink that. Are you deluded? They'll just leave early & go elsewhere to continue the party.

You do know there are sensible young adults out there, right? Not all young adults love to get wasted and take drugs. Some of these comments are disgusting.

After reading some of the comments on other posts these last few days I kinda feel disgusted on some mums pov concerning alcohol. Its like people only want to drink to get tanked and think is OK to expose kids to that and encourage future piss heads. What happened to just having one socially?
Alcohol is still a drug.
I commend this mother for wanting to provide sensible options for her daughter's party.

I’m guessing you are the same poster of the thread of adults drinking while children around, and labeling adults that do so bad parents?
I don’t see anyone saying they drink to get tanked. most disclosed they drink a COUPLE on OCCASION
good exaggeration

We have 18th parties at home, and take all drinks on the way in. 21st parties are at a pub, they get vouchers for a couple of drinks then they pay for their own. If anyone gets too drunk security asks them to leave.

It's ok to take alcohol from them on the way in.

I like to do a rum drink, something fruity and a vodka amd lemonade when I put out jugs of cocktails. The easiest way to make a lot is powdered drink mix (like koolaid). I use 40% less water and make it up with the booze 30% and ice to chill it 10%. It comes out a bright color and is refreshing and not very strong.

I can't believe the number of people having a go at this lady.
It is very sensible for a number of reasons to serve a light alcoholic drink. Cost, responsibility, dehydration in this heat.
Strawberry vodka punch, wine spritzer, pretty much any punch recipe with some vodka or bacardi in it should be good.
And just keep on topping it up with lemonade as the night goes on, they won't notice lol.

Make a sangria or a punch. Add as much or as little alcohol to it as you like. But they'll probs just bring their own. Or because they're actually adults, how much they drink is their business?

They are in her home so it is her business. How many parties do you see on the news that have gotten out of hand. It’s good she’s being responsible.

Unfortunately supplying light alcohol is not going to make a difference to that

Hmmm 21 year olds aren't dumb and probably have their own alcohol. 2 of mine are 18 and would sniff out weak alcohol a mile away! But just make a punch or cocktail with half as much alcohol as the recipe says. Something fruity with vodka, vodka blends well with fruit juice so you might get lucky.

My daughter does not want hard liquor. She rarely drinks and neither do her friends which is why we just wanted something light. Also, they are not the only ones at the party. Her grandmother for example prefers low alcoholic drinks.

Light as in calories: vodka a squirt of lime and soda water. Light as in colour: google tequila sunrise, cosmopolitan, mojito, they are light in colour
