How does your school prevent leaving their car parked in the set down area?

Answered 3 years ago

I ask this as we have a set down pick up lane where drivers are not to leave the car to wait for kids. The problem is that a small number do, clogging it..everyday. they just need to walk a few minutes but they dont. It's making it dangerous for others as we have no car park at our school(just street parking). It is dangerous because cars then start picking up off the road, a child was hit which I believe was contribute d by this. The school sends out the notice but not that these parents follow it. P&C have stood out front and told cars, but once they go the people return, same goes for the Ranger. Unfortunately the principal is crap and I just wondered what can be done here. Any suggestions appreciated!

Teachers are present and blow a whistle like a manic if you stop and your child is not in the line ready to enter the car.
If you child is not in the line ready to enter the car the expectation is you lap the block until they are there or park and walk.
Some people are so fucking lazy when it comes to walking a few hundred meters! If you are unable or not willing to get out and walk keep lapping!

I don't know. It happens at our school too. They always park in the middle of the pick up lane! They put notices in the newsletter but there's always one.

Any time anyone parks in the stop, drop and go at our school they call out the number plate over the speaker along with “please move your car.” It worked as the best deterrent because people were ignoring all the other warnings, including threats of fines from the council.
