Answered 4 years ago

He is now on the warpath saying the fires & droughts are Australias punishment for legalising abortion and same sex marriage. When will he just shut the fuck up? What a horrible horrible being

That's the beauty of Australia.

We are able to express our opinions freely.

If that bothers you then I suggest you move to the middle East or China.

Peace out.

I think he is a douche, but I’m pretty sure a number of Christian fanatical churches are sprouting the same thing, I’m pretty sure the media are following him for a lovely story.

Posting this question is not helping the problem, now by doing this you have perpetuated his ideas, same with the media, what he says in his church is none of our business, by splashing it all over the media and by you, OP immediately plastering it in this forum compounds what he is saying and creates more pain for those affected by his words.

You are advertising his message.

So all the droughts and bushfires BEFORE we legalised same sex marriage and abortion were what? Figments of our collective imaginations?

He's entitled to believe and even spout whatever crap he wants to. It's the media giving him a platform that I object to. The media has a lot to answer for. They all have their little biases and agendas and don't care who gets hurt because of their bullshit. I know that's not a great revelation, but it still pisses me off.

Israel Folau (I can never spell his name right, and cbf scrolling up to see how you spelled it OP) seems like he's going through some shit mentally. He seems like he's trying to turn himself into a martyr for his faith by doing (what he thinks) is some grand gesture of Godliness. But that's not how you make a saint.
Not these days.
If he's so keen on being a messenger of God why not take a leaf out of St Thérèse of Lisieux' book and stick with quietly going about your saintly acts without grandstanding or wanting attention and praise for it.
The way hundreds and thousands of people do every day.
I feel sorry for the guy really. He's obviously got people close to him hyping him up to make a dick out of himself rather than telling him to settle down.

But these are just my thoughts.

That's the problem with the very religious.
Closed minded, bigoted, and even venting some very un- Christian attitudes.
Even the Prime Minister who will not spend a cent to correct social inequity, such as NewStart being atrociously insufficient, or the growing homelessness rate, which affects older women disproportionately, and a raft of other things too numerous to list, but claims to be a "Christian".

Folau isn’t the only one who has said something absolutely absurd through these fires, the biggest difference is that he was at least preaching only in a church and not at a press conference. The amount of people who have condemned some of the stupidity that has risen its head during this tragic time has given me more faith in our country and the people willing to stand up and say “that isn’t right”. In many ways it’s preventing a lot of political grandstanding and drawing us together to show our compassion towards those who have lost everything and those who have lost their lives, as well as those on the frontline battling these fires. If anything good can come out of it, it’s the Australian spirit showing through the compassion and strength in solidarity in compassion for those affected. So while I don’t agree with what he said, or others for that matter, I think there’s a big positive to come out of it if you look hard enough.

He's an idiot. I'm pretty sure most people are aware of this. All those fucking touched in the head people who gave him money are probably regretting it now....a fool and his money are soon parted.
